A Gino's East Kind of Wednesday.

The Gino's East Pie Pinchers: Lisa, Michelle, Dean, & Zach

Price:$22 (delivered)

I'm really interested to try and find the best deep dish in Chicago and strangely enough Gino's East is still my favorite.  It's fucking awesome...way better than Giordano's. I mention Giordano's because Gino's and Giordano's are probably the most touristy pizza places in Chicago (I feel they're on the same level of popularity). So, this blog might turn into a quest for deep dish, but I'll try not to make it boring. I like all the different colors of the pizza rainbow!

This time I ended up drinking a bottle of King Cobra and I think it paired wonderfully (but malt liquor and deep dish always go good together).  As a group, we were bummed though, we ordered too small of a pizza, a medium. MAJOR BUMMER ALERT! but it was okay, we each got a slice and a half, i left hungry but not dissapointed.

I think I like Gino's a lot more because I feel they don't go cheese crazy.  Don't get me wrong, I love cheese, but some times I definitely feel overloaded with the stuff.  It always needs to be the perfect balance of cheese/sauce/crust.

And speaking about crust, that's what makes Gino's real rad, their golden crust.  I'm not a huge crust fan, but I always seem to chow my GE crust. It's awesome, bottom line!

I hate to be the guy that gives out all decently high scores but Gino's East is rad, 5 out of 5.

Food-stamp-eat-at-home-pizza-series #2 Palermo's Rustico Pizza

Brand: Palermo's (RUSTICO)
Price: $4.50 (ish)

------BUMMER ALERT!------
I think I cooked this pizza about 5 minutes too long.  Personally, I like my pizza more undercooked than overcooked, but it was still good so it's okay.
----------------------------------
*Thanks to Daniel for posing with the Old Style I drank with this and the Palermo's box.

This pizza was pretty rad but I don't think I have anything special to say about it.  Well, I was actually very impressed with it's abilities to near double in fucking size when I threw it in the oven.  That was pretty cool.  The actual taste was nothing to write home about though, it seems like the most common style of frozen pizzas. Oh, but one thing that was awesome was that it was 6-cheese, SIX DIFFERENT KIND OF CHEESES! When I was buying the last pizza I reviewed it was 5-cheese and I was stoked on that. Next to it i saw that there was a 4-cheese of the same style but how can you buy a 4-cheese pizza when there is a 5-cheese next to it.  Then this pizza had to go and top it 1-cheese more! It only proves though that more cheese doesn't make it better, only gnarlier, and gnarlier didn't win in my stomach today.

I'm gonna have to give this one a 3 out of 5.
